Meet of Champs Details

Hello SOST Meet of Champs parents,

Congratulations on having swimmers in the Spring Branch Memorial Swim Conference Meet of Champs 2021!  The meet takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the SBISD Natatorium WW Emmons Natatorium, 10404 Tiger Trail Lane, 77043.

We are so excited for our swimmers to represent SOST this weekend. In the letter below the MSBSC League President shares many of the details about the meet such a timeline of the meet, parking, download of Meet Mobile App, conduct expectations, and more. Please be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this email and view the attachments.

Coach Eva will let you and your swimmer know on Saturday if you made it to finals on Sunday.

For those of you who do not know me I am the League Rep for our team and I’ll be available to answer questions you have. I can be reached via text or phone at 832-567-3770 throughout the weekend.

For SOST families we have a few additional notes to share:

  • Tent Set Up Help Needed – this year we will put up our own tents, rather than sit under the big white tent. SOST parent volunteers will be needed to help with tent set up on Saturday morning at 6:00 am at the Natatorium. Please contact Mike Steranko at 281-686-4427 if you can help load trucks and or set up tents, generators, tarps, etc. In addition we need all SOST parents to help with tent tear down on Saturday afternoon and set up and tear down again on Sunday morning and afternoon. This is an all hands on deck opportunity.
  • Medal Tent – SOST will manage the Medal tent for the entire meet on Sunday afternoon. Szalan Boardman has done a fantastic job setting up that booth for success.Be sure to sign up for volunteer roles in this tent through Swimtopia and know if you are at the meet on Sunday you may be called to help keep this tent running smoothly.
  • Food/Snacks/Drinks – SOST will provide some light snacks and water/Gatorade in the tent and food truck concessions will be available on site. Feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks, if preferred. The team will not provide meals.
  • Conduct – the league has asked parent to not address any of the meet judges directly or walk on the deck area of the pool. If there is a problem or a question please text me and I will work on your behalf with the league. You can reach me at 832-567-3770.
  • League Volunteers – we have been assigned the following league volunteer roles. If you are going to sign up for this role you will wear white shorts/shirts and report in for the judges meeting before each age group. These roles take place inside the Natatorium. Please text me at 832-567-3770 if you are interested in the two open roles below. (See MOC timeline below)
    • Sat AM Timers – Boardman and Aertker
    • Sat PM Timer – Ogle
    • Sat PM Deck Guard – Needed
    • Sun AM Timer – Needed
  • SOST Volunteers for tent – Sarah released the roles this morning and they are available for sign up through Swimtopia. All parents are asked to volunteer for Saturday right by Friday morning. We need as much help as we can get to make this event successful. If your child makes it to the Sunday meet you will also be required to sign up to volunteer.

Parents will sit outside in/around the SOST tent and go inside the Natatorium only when their child is swimming. Please come back to the tent after the event to make room for other parents to watch their children race. We have been asked not to sit in the Natatorium after our children swim.

The MOC is a fast event and there are many moving parts. Please jump in and help where you see the need in our tent and with the swimmers. We appreciate our families for being at the event your participation is what will make it a success.

Please be advised that we are going to need your cooperation in managing spectator seating for this event. We are going to need all spectators to help us in order to make this event enjoyable for everyone.

1. Please try to only come into the facility to watch your son/daughter's event and leave immediately after each event to give other parents space to watch.
2. Do not expect to be able to sit and watch the whole meet. Plan to bring alternative seating for yourself and your family outside. Pop up tents are acceptable.
3. Expect people to be constantly asking you if you have a swimmer in this event.
5. Remember that we are all in the same boat; no one has any special privileges this weekend. 6. You are going to have to leave, come back, leave and come back just like everyone else.

If you want to be guaranteed a seat for the whole meet this weekend, you can volunteer for a Meet of Champs job. We still need volunteers for this weekend so please contact your Team's Representative ASAP.

If you follow the requests above, this year's Meet of Champs will be a great experience for everyone.

Thank you in advance for all of your cooperation this weekend. Let's work together to make this a great experience and a memorable weekend for all of our kids!

Thanks, Jennifer Hyland
